Meeker Avenue is a gulp inducing stretch for any biped or pedal-er. Along Metropolitan the WALK signals were not working for a 3 week span in from late February to March. Many cars don’t see “right of way” as a reason to slow down their approach on or exit from the BQE, which can result in a deadly game of Rochambeau. Transportation Alternatives has been out collecting signatures of support to influence the Department of Transportation to study the feasibility of installing protected bike lanes and pedestrian safety improvements. So far they’ve collected 1153 signatures. There was also a safety initiative on the Participatory Budgeting vote. Mr. Oliver said, “We ambassadored for Participatory Budgeting,” as they were also out getting signatures during the voting.
