Positively Izzy by Terri Libenson (Released May 2018)
Terri Libenson returns with a companion novel to her “Invisible Emmie” that captures the emo-ness of middle school. The story is told from two perspectives in two different illustration styles. Izzy, the dreamer, tells her story in a more narrative style where illustration pops amongst paragraphs of text. Brianna, the brain, tells her story in a more typical graphic novel panel style. The different approaches for these two characters allow the readers to visually know which character’s story is being told. Their stories converge unexpectedly on the day of a school talent show.
