Council Member Antonio Reynoso acknowledged Angelo Falcón’s contributions, a leading scholar on Latino issues and an aggressive advocate for coalition-building and community organizing among others, at co-naming South 1st Street and Havemeyer Street: Angelo Falcón Way.

The community came out on the rainy morning of June 17th to honor the late Angelo Falcón at the unveiling of South 1st and Havemeyer Streets’ new co-name: Angelo Falcón Way. Members of Mr. Falcón’s family were joined by Council Member Antonio Reynoso; Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez’s District Director, Evelyn Cruz; community activists, and neighbors. The rain didn’t dampen the spirit behind this co-naming. Angelo Falcón lived from childhood until his untimely death in Williamsburg’s Southside. His contributions as an educator and activist brightened the community and changed it for the better.
