NYC Marathon 2019: Student Musicians Set the Pace

BASIS band NYC Marathon 001
BASIS Independent Brooklyn played the corner of Manhattan and Norman Avenues as runners from the NYC Marathon turn the corner

The student band from BASIS Independent Brooklyn played the corner of Manhattan and Norman Avenues in front of the Bagel Point to help cheer on the runners. Their band instructor, Mr. Luis Ingels, led the students in grades 7-12 for about four hours of performing with periodic breaks. They even took a break from playing the pep songs to entertain the little kids with “Baby Shark” at one point.  The school’s tennis team trains at McCarren Park, which is part of the reason this band was stationed where it was for the marathon.
