North Brooklyn Parks Alliance Annual Gala

Community activist Laura Hofmann receives The Sister Francis Kress Environmental Award from North Brooklyn Parks Alliance at their annual gala

The North Brooklyn Parks Alliance (NBK Parks) was formed in 2003 as the Open Space Alliance for North Brooklyn to raise private funds to expand and improve open space in North Brooklyn. On October 7 the  NBK Parks held their tenth annual gala at which they unveiled their first annual “Eco Warrior” award created in honor of Sister Kress who first discovered the historic oil spill in the Newtown Creek and worked tirelessly to implement the Clean Air and Clean Water Quality Acts.  Lisa Bloodgood, Laura Hofmann, Christine Holowacz, Deborah Masters, and Deborah Spiroff were the recipients of this award.
