Evergreen and Southwest Brooklyn Industrial Development Corporation (SBIDC) created the Resilient Recovery Project to provide technical assistance and education to small businesses in the industrial and manufacturing sector in Brooklyn to help them grow and provide family supporting jobs to working class New Yorkers.

On May 4, U.S. Representative Nydia Velázquez presented a check for $750K to Evergreen and SBIDC.  The funds will cover costs of business education workshops and seminars hosted by these two community-based organizations as well as staff costs.

Collectively, SBIDC and Evergreen provide services to six neighborhoods along the Brooklyn waterfront from Sunset Park north to Williamsburg.  This project will expand the capacity of their respective organizations as they help launch educational programs for Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (MWOBE), provide technical assistance, and help businesses hire from within six low-moderate income neighborhoods in Brooklyn: Sunset Park, Gowanus, Red Hook, Greenpoint, Bushwick, and East Williamsburg.
