Swinging Sixties senior salsas to victory

NYC Department for the Aging (NYC Aging) has been holding a Talent is Timeless competition, which is moving on to its final round. There are four rounds: local, regional, borough-wide, and citywide. The top three acts from one competition move on to the next competition until the citywide winner is crowned. As of this writing seniors have competed in the first three rounds, and the seniors who have won their borough are looking forward to the citywide competition!
Several seniors of Swinging Sixties Older Adult Center (211 Ainslie Street) entered the Talent is Timeless contest. Three of these seniors moved on to the Brooklyn competition in mid-August, which was held at the Krakus Older Adult Center (176 Java Street). Modesto Dia sang, Irma LaBiosa danced the bachata, and Luz Salizar salsa danced.

“The acts were fierce, but judges from NYC Aging – Anya Herasme and Adam Wysocki – did their best,” said NYC Aging’s social media post on the Brooklyn competition.
First place went to Luz Salizar, and she and her salsa will enter the citywide competition. Let’s cheer her on!
