Kitchen Dedicated to Agustina Muniz

Debra Benders, president of Cooper Park Houses Resident Association and some of the neighbors who knew and loved Agustina Muniz dedicate the kitchen in honor of Muniz.

The tenants of Cooper Park Houses are still reeling from the loss of Agustina Muniz, their longtime neighbor who also worked in the kitchen and prepared children their meals.

On August 21 at 6:45 a.m., she lost her life in a hit-and-run when crossing Kingsland Avenue and the truck driver failed to stop at a red light. Memorials to Agustina popped up at Cooper Park and a gathering was held to honor her. The kitchen she worked in is now dedicated to her.

Luis Gutierrez, 28, the driver who hit Muniz was arrested and charged with manslaughter on 09.26.23.
