Chain link fence on Franklin Street will come down!

Construction began this week on the section of Bushwick Inlet Park that edges along Franklin Street between North 14th and North 15th Streets and borders along the northern shore of a mini lagoon, aka the inlet the park is named after.
This area is the northernmost two acres of the park and is called the Motiva site. Construction is estimated to be completed by Fall 2025.
“This section will feature: a riparian shoreline, soft water’s edge and getdown, human powered boating access, and floating research oyster stations,” states the announcement on the Friends of Bushwick Inlet Park’s website. More details are viewable here. “Nine acres of the park open or under way. Eighteen to go. An awesome milestone achieved by New York City Department of Parks and Recreation.”
A seminar on the historical and future ecology of Bushwick Inlet Park and the Blue Zone will be held on March 27 at 6 p.m.–8 p.m. at Mindspace Williamsburg, 25 Kent Ave, #401, North Lobby. The presentation and panel discussion will be led by Eric Sanderson PhD, vice president of urban conservation at New York Botanical Garden and will look at climate change and the threats and present opportunities in adaptive mitigation infrastructure and park design opportunities. He will be joined by panelists Dan Wiley, district director for U.S. Representative Nydia Velazquez and Amy Chester, managing director of Rebuild by Design. This is a free event, but registration is required. Register here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/wheres-our-park-past-present-future-part-ii-tickets-859592403017?aff=ebdsshios
