Community Stampede

The Dime McCarren 5k doubled in size!

And they’re off! June 15 was a beautiful day to run the Dime McCarren 5k.

On the morning of June 15 nearly 1000 runners and walkers participated in the Dime McCarren 5K, which starts and ends at McCarren Park at Leonard Street and travels along North 4th Street, Kent Avenue, and Manhattan Avenue.  The proceeds to this run go to support St. Nicks Alliance’s services.  This community organization offers a variety of transformative opportunities for all ages: career training, elder care, after school and summer camp, tenant empowerment, and so much more.

NYC Council Member Lincoln Restler (far right) came by to cheer the runners on! Also pictured Michael Rochford, exec. dir. of St. Nicks Alliance (center) and Steve Miley, chief marketing officer for Dime Community Bank (far left)
P.S. 147 Principal Sandra Noyola (center) received a community award at this year’s Dime McCarren 5K.  Also pictured Debra Sue Lorenzen (2nd from left, 2nd row)
