tried out River Street for pickleball play on July 17.

Local pickleball groups, Williamsburg Pickleball, the McCarren Park Hawks, and Brooklyn Aces played a pop-up game at Domino Park on July 17.

The idea came about at the last Domino Park advisory board meeting, when board member William Vega suggested hosting a pickleball game at the park. “The committee gave a thumbs up to the event and Michael Lampariello, the director of Domino Park, also supported the idea,” said Vega.

The pickleball match was held on River Street, as the street could be closed so nets could be set up and court lines could be drawn.

NYC Department of Transportation will be resurfacing River Street.  “When they finish we will plan for more pickleball play at River Street,” said Vega.
