SYEP participants who are 14 and 15 work on projects over the summer, and then present them at the end of the summer.  Some of the topics covered were: catfishing, the destructive nature of spreading rumors, and recognizing the signs of sexual harassment.  The group whose subject was rumors filmed a dramatized scenario where rumors were spread that a student who did well on a test cheated, by a student who didn’t do well on the test and was jealous of the other’s score. The group said at the end of the video they chose the topic because it is a common issue that is underrated and they wanted teens to be more aware of this issue.

(l to r) Lenny,Rihanna, Lavender, Aziah created a video on how rumors can have a negative impact on both the victim of the rumor
and the creator of the rumor for their SYEP project.
