In an effort to inform seniors on quality of life concerns, NYC Council Member Jennifer Gutiérrez hosted a town hall on November 14 at Lindsay Park’s Naturally Occurring Retirement Community, NORC (31 Leonard Street). NORC assists with support services that improve life quality and includes social services, wellness activities, health management, counseling, friendship, applying for senior benefits, home care, food, and more. Lindsay Park’s NORC is a partnership with the Lindsay Park Cooperative (Board of Directors) and St. Nicks Alliance.

“I had the opportunity to meet with our older residents to hear about the challenges they’re facing in the neighborhood and discuss how I can best support their community. I also shared my bill, the Expanding NORCS Act. The bill proposes a three-year study to identify and understand NORCs, followed by the implementation of plans to provide resources, improve infrastructure, and help residents age in place comfortably,” said Gutiérrez.
