UPDATED to inform the April 5 McCarren Park Clean Up has been cancelled due to weather.

NYC Council Member Lincoln Restler is all set to spring clean McCarren Park.

This event has been CANCELLED due to weather: April 5, Restler and volunteers will pick up litter, do some tree care, and sweep: leaves, trash, and other debris off the catch basins to prevent flooding.

Also at the April 5 event you can pick up a free tree to plant in your yard if you reserve one here: https://form.jotform.com/250554341810146.  There is a limited supply via a partnership with New York Restoration Project, so reserve early.

You may have also noticed the new CITIBIN trash containerization throughout McCarren Park.  Restler’s office partnered with NYC Parks and the North Brooklyn Parks Alliance to bring four sets of these units to: the McCarren Rec Center, the Driggs Avenue park entrance by Union Avenue, inside the park at the corner of Bedford and Lorimer streets, and at the corner of Bayard and Lorimer streets.

CITIBIN waste enclosures are modular, lockable, rodent proof, and durable.

“We will keep gross, smelly garbage bags off the ground and rats out of our beloved park,” stated Restler’s office.
