In May, Williamsburg High School of Arts and Technology (WHSAT) held their yearly celebration of creativity called Arts Fest. Arts Fest offers a variety of mediums that students can create in, which includes: drawings, paintings, digital media, and live performances.

Students also contribute to the event by serving as curators. They receive, catalog, and display the art that is presented for the event. Plus, the students also are part of the judges’ panel who choose winners in each category.

This year’s Arts Fest was a two-day adventure in creativity. The first day was conducted during the school day and allowed students to explore different artist exploration stations, including: mandala drawing, screen printing and t-shirt design, and blackout poetry.  Live performances, including one from the WHSAT step team, The Big Steppas, brought day one to a close.  Day two was a family affairs and invited students, their families, parents, siblings, as well as community partners and friends to participate. Dinner was also served.
