It’s a Beautiful Day to Volunteer

As a community advocate, NYS Assembly Member Emily Gallagher knows the importance of the work community organizations do and the importance of those who volunteer to support that work.  In order to facilitate a volunteer pipeline to these organizations, her office organized around two dozen non-profits to participate in a Volunteer Fair on September 20 at Driggs Avenue where it bisects McCarren Park.

Some of the organizations that participated were: El Puente, Make McGuinness Safer, Greenpoint Cats, several dog adoption/advocacy groups, St. Nicks Alliance, Newton Creek Alliance, North Brooklyn Parks Alliance, Brooklyn Public Library, and more.

In addition to being a happy host, NYS Assembly Member Emily Gallagher also listened to constituents’ concerns at the Volunteer Fair. Photo courtesy of NYS Assembly Member Emily Gallagher

“We had a beautiful day for our first ever Volunteer Fair out on Driggs Avenue! The best way to build community is to become a neighborhood volunteer and work on solving our local concerns,” said Gallagher.

As it was a success, there will be a second Volunteer Fair next year. If you are a volunteer-based organization, email for more information: gallaghere@nyassembly.gov
