Seniors Discover Longevity (Sticks) at Domino Park

Domino Park is ever the hero to local older adults.  Once a year, they open their bocce courts to the Bocce for Bus Tournament, which raises money for the Swinging Sixties Senior Bus.  Then on September 6, they invited the seniors at Swinging Sixties Older Adult Center to a Longevity Stick class and to check out the Sunday Grow NYC Green Market. Seniors with eligible incomes can participate in the Farmers Market Nutrition Program and receive coupon books.

What is a Longevity Stick? According to the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at California State University Fullerton, “Longevity Stick is a Vietnamese exercise regimen consisting of a series of 12 movements done with a stick. The exercises are designed to maintain a healthy body and spirit by improving balance, flexibility, strength, mental focus and breathing capacity.”

The seniors had such a good time, they’ll be participating in weekly Longevity Stick classes going forward.
