31st Get to the Point 5K

And they’re off! In addition to Frank Carbone being the president of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Academy and Get to the Point’s race director, he is also a runner of the Get to the Point 5K. He’s on the far left.

The Get to the Point 5K ran around Greenpoint for the 31st time on a sunny Sunday, October 19.

Frank Carbone, president of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Academy (St. Stan’s), serves as the race director for this 5K.  Carbone started this run, which also includes a children’s dash and a post-run celebration, as a fundraiser for St. Stan’s.

Greenpoint kids have been getting their first taste of participating in a community running event since the 1990s, thanks to Get to the Point!

The run starts at Driggs Avenue and Newell Street, alongside St. Stan’s. Travelling southward, it takes a right on North 12th Street, a right on Berry Street, following forward a zig-zag box that also covers legs of Lorimer, Calyer, Franklin, Kent, Monitor, and Humboldt Streets, as well as Manhattan, Meserole, Norman, and Nassau Avenues. The finish line is on Humboldt Street at Driggs Avenue.

St. Nicks Alliance’s running team happily participated in this 5K.  Pictured with Frank Carbone (far right) are (from l to r) Danny Calderon, Michael Lawson, Melanie Martin, Jennifer Zarumeno, Michael Rochford, Jose Leon (coach), Dany Nuñez, and Luis Rodriguez.
