Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15 to October 15. This acknowledgement spans half of two months due to September 15 being the independence day for several Latin American countries. On October 15, Vivo Toro (987 Grand Street) held a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration that attracted the likes of NYS Assembly Member Maritza Davila and Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.
