Maria Hernandez Park Receives A Spruce Up

On November 23, 60 volunteers consisting of young adult workers from ASEZ WAO, raked leaves and removed 435 pounds of litter, including some large household items and pieces of furniture that had been dumped.  ASEZ WAO stands for “Save the Earth from A to Z, We Are One Family” and is one of the community service groups from the World Mission Society Church of God. The cleanup was in partnership with NYS Assembly Member Maritza Davila and with assistance from the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation.

Deborah Villanueva, Davila’s communications director, passed along the elected official’s appreciation. “[Davila] truly appreciates the cleanup efforts. We have a lot of community members that come with their children and their dogs to enjoy the park, so we truly appreciate our neighborhood being impacted by this [cleanup].”
