Santa arrived at Cooper Park Houses on December 13 in the form of National Grid.  As part of its established Season of Giving annual campaign, the energy provider brought gifts for resident children and funded a technology lab curated by TechFin.

Hundreds of families from Cooper Park Houses lined up to receive toys.

“This is the season to give. I know a lot of people don’t have, but again National Grid gave generously so we can go out and give these toys for these babies,” said Debra Benders, president of Cooper Park Houses Residents Council.

There was another surprise for children of any age at Cooper Park Houses: a new tech lab.  The lab was filled with two dozen desktop computers, a podcast station, and a DJ equipment.  “This is a big community investment that is going to focus on a lot of STEM education and programming for the young people in this community,” said Aubrey Kelman, community investment manager for National Grid.

“No matter where you grow up in Brooklyn, you get access to opportunities like everyone else, and today, with those partnerships like National Grid and our office, we’re going to really be able to make a difference for families this holiday season,” said Reynoso.
