The McCarren Rink opened for another season of ice skating on November 15th. Andrew Frey, the venue manager, has said the rainy weather during the first few weeks after it opened discouraged attendance, but on good weather days the rink was brimming with happy skaters. The morning of December 7th, couldn’t have been more perfect for ice skating, and there were a good amount of skaters for a Sunday morning. That day the rink was giving out a knitted navy scarf with the price of admission to the first 500, but the skaters there didn’t need any additional incentive other than to skate on smooth ice under an ice blue sunny sky. So grab your skates and go for a spin on some nice North Brooklyn ice, and if you don’t have a pair of skates to grab, the McCarren Rink rents them.
The McCarren Rink is open 7 days a week: Mon–Fri 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Sunday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (on school holidays the weekday hours will be extended to 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.) Admission: Adult $11, Children $6. Skate Rental $6. Helmet Rental $5.
