Joseph Franquinha, owner of Crest Hardware, was master of ceremonies as usual. A skillfully done carving of his store’s mascot aka “the key guy” was his pumpkin offering.

Allen Chen, a veteran of this competition for at least 3 years,  won “Best in Show” with a eerie Back to the Future design. Other categories such as Most Creative went to a skull with brain combo from Jessica Layman, and the 1st Place for Effort went to Melanie Abramov for her hedgehog pumpkin inspired by her pet.  In the spirit of the World Series Marc from Maniac Pumpkin Carvers, gave Crest Hardware a Mets inspired pumpkin.

Drink was provided by Sam Adams and local like John Ogren’s homemade mulled wine, cider from the Brooklyn Kitchen and prizes were donated by: Campbell Cheese and  Meats, The Brooklyn Kitchen, Mesa Coyocan, Zona Rosa, Slapback Clothing Store, Desert Island Comic Book Shop, Calexico, Humbolt and Jackson, Lighthouse Restaurant, and the City Reliquary Museum.
