On January 10, 2016, Greenpoint came together as one community with different nationalities for one special event: the Three Kings Day Parade. It featured colorful floats and plenty of cheerful people. Different generations united in celebration of this multi-cultural holiday.

MS126’s Leo Club actually marched in the parade (see picture on page 2). At the end of the marching, all of the people that participated in the parade gathered in Graham Avenue. Mr. Martinez, the assistant of PS 257, spoke on a microphone about how thankful they are that so many people came out that day to show their appreciation of being in the neighborhood.

The impact that this event had on our students was extraordinary. Our students got to see how our community got together to celebrate a unique holiday. Our students also got to experience Martin Luther King Jr’s second principle of nonviolence, which seeks to win friendship and understanding and creates a Beloved Community.
