What’s Going on at the Corner?

A New and Improved Napolitano Pharmacy That’s What!

Nap Pharm 001

Lately locals and loyal customers have been voicing their curiosity over Napolitano Pharmacy, which has been a neighborhood mainstay on the corner of Graham and Metropolitan Avenues since 1985.  The interior of the store has been undergoing a renovation that results in the usual disorder from this type of endeavor, and it is this that has concerned some that a favorite spot might be going away.  This is not the case.

“The store will be coming back full-force. We want to let the general public know that we’ll be coming back stronger than ever. We will be adding homeopathic products, going green with household cleanser brands for purchase, and offering healthy snacks. Plus our traditional image of Star Cookies will still be a Christmas staple and Anthony Delia, Robert Mattera, and other familiar faces on staff will still be here,” said Tom Napolitano who wants to assure everyone there is nothing to fear and there is so much to look forward to. Tom is the man who put the Napolitano in Napolitano Pharmacy, which he established in 1985. In the ensuing years his store merited a mom and pop quality and became a landmark on Graham Avenue. Mr. Napolitano sold the store in 200(?), but the new owners kept the name and maintained a staff of regulars.

Napolitano Pharmacy has recently partnered with City Chemist, which has several other Brooklyn locations in addition to a presence on Long Island.  City Chemist is a second generation, family owned and operated independent neighborhood pharmacy. Their philosophy couldn’t be more of a match with Napolitano’s as City Chemist has established a business structure that is reminiscent of the old fashioned pharmacies that existed before the chain stores; offering compassionate care and personalized consultations.

As part of this new merger, Tom Napolitano has been encouraged to come out of retirement to serve in a founder emeritus role and therefore will act as a goodwill ambassador for the store’s public relations. The renovated Napolitano Pharmacy will offer a brand new state-of-the-art pharmacy while it maintains their unblemished mom and pop image that consists of personalized service and patient consultation.  They are respectful of the reputation as a friendly neighborhood corner drugstore that has credited the store with success.  Napolitano Pharmacy’s loyalty to the health and well-being of their customers and patients has been and will always be their goal.

The neighborhood can look forward to a “Grand-Reopening Celebration” in a month or so. During their construction phase, Napolitano Pharmacy will remain open for business during their usual hours and will have a supply of merchandise and Mr. Napolitano reminded, “Let’s not forget Lotto! Get lucky at Napolitano’s — play your lotto!” He also mentioned, “Nature Made® vitamins will always be: Buy 1 get 1 Free.”

Overall Tom Napolitano stressed, “We are still going to be a service oriented pharmacy. You can rely on our pharmacists for consultation regarding drug therapy, drug interactions, and over-the-counter medicine recommendations. They will also be offering blood pressure and blood glucose screenings. We are community minded and not just your typical drug store. You can buy Tylenol anywhere you want to buy Tylenol — we give you a reason to come to us.”

Napolitano Pharmacy’s hours of operation are: M–F 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Sat. 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sun. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., they accept all major third party plans, their staff includes personnel that have achieved a doctorate in pharmacology and general staff speaks Italian, Spanish, and English.
