Crest Hardware on 536 Metropolitan Avenue held their 7th annual pumpkin carving contest on Oct. 22. To be a contender, the pumpkins had to arrive pre-carved and were displayed in the garden center. The voting public in attendance chose the best pumpkin to fit the category. Trump, in carved pumpkin form, hoped to get enough votes to win a prize.
Jessica Layman won “Most Creative” with her pumpkin: an exposed skull of a cracked open jack-o-lantern (created with two pumpkins).
Hot cider and gluhwein plus food from The Brooklyn Kitchen were available. Prizes came from: Brooklyn Zoo, Desert Island, The Brooklyn Kitchen, Calexico, Brooklyn Star, Lighthouse, Zona Rosa, Blind Barber, Nha Minh, Carmine’s, and NYC Footy, among others.
