Sweet Street!

Forty Years of Fortunato Brothers

Get a load of that cannoli!

In October of 1976 Fortunato Brothers Café Pasticceria opened its doors on 289 Manhattan Avenue.  In the ensuing years their reputation for Italian sweets, especially in combo with their cappuccino/espresso, has become celebrated in the stomachs and hearts of its community and beyond.

On October 10, 2016 Fortunato brothers, Mario, Frank, Salvatore, and Michael celebrated the 40th year of the family business. Devoe Street from Manhattan Avenue to Leonard Street was closed to traffic due to it being filled with about a dozen tables laden with cakes (layer and cheese), tiramisu, cookies, and don’t forget the cannoli.  The cannoli table started with three giant cannoli, one was stuffed with dozens of cannoli.  There was a big bouncy castle for the kids and dancing (to tunes via live band and DJ) for the grown-ups to work off the sweet intake.

Happy neighbors came by like Phil Caponegro, Conselyea Street Block Association President

The preparations and planning took weeks of hard work, but it was “wonderful to see how many neighbors and friends came to celebrate with us,” said Frank Fortunato.

There was dancin’ in the street!
