Paul Pallotta was a long time member of the St. Nicks Alliance Board of Directors and a resident of Powers Street. His home was up the block from a fire which destroyed a row of housing in 1975 which led to the development of Jennings Hall and formation of St. Nicks Alliance.
Mr. Pallotta joined the board of St. Nicks Alliance through his affiliation with the St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church. Paul was one of the Greatest Generation, born in 1919 to parents who were recent immigrants from Italy. He came of age in the great depression, persevering through lean years, saving Europe from Nazis, and returning home after the war to Williamsburg.
Paul then married his sweetheart and they were blessed with two daughters. They made a home on Powers Street, up the block from St. Nicholas Church. Like so many other children of recent immigrants, Paul found success in local factories. With the mind of an engineer and practical smarts he rose to the level of ship foreman. This was the era when Brooklyn manufacturers were the engine of the U.S. economy.
“We are deeply saddened by the death of Paul Pallotta,” said Joseph Robles, President of St. Nicks Alliance Board of Directors. “He was one of our most active and diligent board members. His loss will be deeply felt.”
In addition to serving as a director for St. Nicks Alliance, Paul also served as a treasurer and officer of the organization. In that capacity he had a broader responsibility and often visited the offices of St. Nicks Alliance. He was well known and adored by the staff. A celebratory lunch was held for him each late August for his birthday, and he always had his favorite: Shrimp Parmigiano. Reaching 96, Paul enjoyed great health and was an avid walker.
He is survived by Arlene Sena and husband Jim; grandchildren Rachael and Morgan Sena and Dana Compton and husband Ted; also survived by great grandchildren; Maddie and Hannah Compton. Paul was predeceased by his daughter Linda.
