New York City’s most active running club, with 16 runs per week at all paces and distances — was founded right in our North Brooklyn backyard in January 2009 and has partnered with St. Nicks Alliance to help organize the Dime McCarren 5K since this run’s start.
You may have seen NBR’s 300-plus active team members pounding the pavement of Greenpoint, Williamsburg and Bushwick’s streets and bridges and lining up at the starts of road races all around the city in their distinctive black and white singlets.
Now NBR has teamed up with St. Nicks Alliance for the sixth straight year to bring their love of running to the community where they live and run.
There are plenty of running groups throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the rest of New York City but NBR is special. It is one of the city’s only free running community clubs — no dues required; all you have to do to join is start running with them — NBR prides itself on being inclusive. Their membership runs the gamut of experience levels and paces, from former elites to casual runners.
NBR is proud to partner with St. Nicks Alliance on the Dime McCarren 5K each year, because it fits perfectly with their mission to bring together runners in our area of all fitness and experience levels. Whether you want a bit of team spirit, a running buddy, a training program to help you crush a marathon, or just want to get in shape for your first 5K, NBR welcomes all.
