The north end of McCarren Park was once again filled with art projects, music, and an expo of environmental pro-activism, which is organized by Town Square.

Binny, the mascot of the NY Department of Sanitation’s compost initiative was there overflowing with biodegradable refuse and raring to take pictures with visitors.

Community organizations and schools were present to pass on information and what they had learned. MS 126, who recently was awarded an Eco-Schools USA Green Flag, was there to inform on recycling and to take data from visitors to check on their recycling knowledge.  PS 34 sold recycled pencils the students had made and displayed other eco-inspired activities they had participated in this year.
