Giglio’s Lucky 114th!

Giglio 2017 003smSince 1903 an eighty-foot tower has danced through the streets of Williamsburg. This tradition was brought by immigrants from Nola, Italy. Although the feast welcomes participants of all cultures, its offerings keep true to its Italian roots.

From July 5th through July 16th Havemeyer and its side streets were filled with food stalls, carnival rides, and games. This is the year’s largest fundraiser for Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.  Pastor Jamie Gigantiello revived his tradition of participating in the lift, which he did nearly twenty years ago when he was a seminarian at the church.
