Put the FUN in fundraising for The Firehouse North Brooklyn Community Center

350 supporters turned out on June 26th to support The Firehouse North Brooklyn Community Center at the first annual Williamsburg Wine Bash at the Brooklyn Bowl. Sherry-Lehmann wines presented lavish sips from 60 wineries. The event also offered an auction, oysters, donuts, music, and other fun.
This bash was the latest effort toward acquiring the Engine 212 firehouse (at Wythe Ave. and North 8th St.) and funding its conversion into a community and cultural center for North Brooklyn. This and past efforts have helped them near
their goal of meeting the renovation costs to bring a new cultural space that will inhabit and revitalize the old firehouse. This will be an outlet for offering performances, art exhibits,

events, and educational programs, etc. to the North Brooklyn community. It will also be the new home to two veteran community organizations: Peoples Firehouse Inc. (PFI) and Neighbors Allied for Good Growth (NAG), giving them a fresh environment from where they would continue their advocation for housing issues and environmental rights.
When September 17th rolls around TASTE will roll out along the East River Park. This event is a sophisticated funhouse for the taste buds. This block party type fundraiser for The Firehouse NBCC is in its 7th year of bringing the community together. Goers will purchase a book of tickets with which they can redeem tasty menu samplings and sips from local eateries.

OddFellows Ice Cream, Zona Rosa Brooklyn, The Meatball Shop, Pies ‘N’ Thighs, Maison Premiere, Delaware and Hudson, Bedford Cheese Shop, and Teddy’s Bar and Grill are just a portion of those who will participate this year.
If you choose to purchase your ticket books early, you can save $10–$20! Early Bird tickets are on sale from August 1–15 for the following rates: Firehouse (4 tastes/2 Drinks) – $25 (normally $35) and Firehouse PLUS (8 tastes/4 drinks) $40 (normally $60).

TASTE will occur on September 17th from 1p.m. to 5 p.m. at the East River State Park (90 Kent Ave.). To purchase tickets and for more information visit the website: Tastewg.com
