“The Graham Avenue BID would like to thank all our retailers, property owners and special community members who have made this event possible. We hold an annual event to demonstrate our commitment to the growth of this retail district and support to the folks who live and work here. We also use this time to honor those who have provided exemplary commitment to the work we do,” said Betty Cooney, Exec. Dir of the Graham Ave. BID
The BID dedicated 2017’s Business Man of the Year honor to Angel Santiago of Anibal Meat Market on Moore Street. “[He] was a board member for many years, a dear friend, and a special member of this community. We wanted to honor his work and dedication to our BID by having a presentation by Cindy VandenBosch from Turnstile Tours. Cindy had interviewed Angel many times in the past,” said Cooney
VandenBosch also presented an interesting overview of the history of the Graham Avenue Business district.
Hemang Katz was honored as the property owner of the year and Det. Bruno Vidal who retired from the 90th Precinct and the entire 90th Pct. were also acknowledged.
“There are so many partner organizations that we proudly work with and to each of them…we say thank you for your help and support. We trust we will grow in the coming year and be able to offer greater help and support to our retail district and the wonderful community that supports them,” said Cooney.
This year the celebration was held at Emblem Sports Bar (187 Graham Avenue).
