It’s that time of year when thoughts of college choices bloom in students’ heads. During the recent spring break St Nicks Alliance hosted in partnership with Historically Black College & University (HBCU) youth from their Williamsburg and Greenpoint Beacon sites a 3-day/2-night college tour. They visited schools in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington DC. Students got an educated view of Howard University, Hampton University, Morgan State University, Norfolk State University, Coppin State University, and Delaware State University via information sessions directed by admissions officers and walking tours of campus conducted by student ambassadors.

“It was a great opportunity to travel and learn about different schools that I would not have gotten a chance to see without the Beacon,” said Vitani Corbin, a senior from New Dawn Charter High School

Catilyn Nunez, a Greenpoint Beacon staff member stated, “I never had this opportunity to go on a [university] tour. My life may have been different if I went away to school.”
