Kids at Hylan Houses now have a space to slide straight or in a corkscrew, hopscotch, or stretch their climbing skills on a jungle gym, and when all that activity heats them up there’s a sprinkler to cool them down.  On July 11, Council Member Antonio Reynoso; Tenant Association President for Hylan Houses, Audrey Fraser; NYCHA officials, and tenants celebrated the official opening of the new playground with a ribbon cutting.

The Hylan Houses playground was funded with a $350,000 budgetary allocation Councilman Reynoso made during his first term, in 2014.

“I am thrilled to see the new playground at Hylan Houses finally become a reality. This project is especially meaningful to me because it was made possible through the very first budgetary allocation that I made to a NYCHA facility within the district. While it took a while for the playground to come to fruition, I look forward to the joy that it will bring to children who live in Hylan Houses and the surrounding area. I will continue to work to deliver upgrades and capital improvements to District 34 NYCHA facilities.” said Reynoso.

Mother and daughter tenants of Hylan Houses, Patricia Joyner and Imani Hewlett said, “We want to thank Councilman Antonio Reynoso.  Every time there is an issue he responds immediately.  We are very grateful to him and his staff. They are the best!”
