This year’s Get to the Point 5K celebrated its 25th anniversary.  The event, which was first held in 1992, has grown steadily over the past three decades, and expected over 500 runners to participate in the Children’s Dashes and 5K Run. The event is a fundraiser for St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Academy, a local school with over 200 students in grades Pre-K3 through 8th grades serving the Greenpoint, Williamsburg and Long Island City communities.  Broadway Stages signed on to be the title sponsor for this year’s race. The company’s President and CEO, Gina Argento, strongly believes in the importance giving back by supporting local businesses, positive environmental practices and educational causes.

The winner of the 5K was Benjamin Nilsestuen. He crossed the finish line at 17:06, which was more than two minutes ahead of the 2nd place finish.  St. Nicks Alliance has long been an active supporter of this race. Executive Dir. Michael Rochford and Dep. Exec. Dir. Jose Leon both participated.
