Seniors Celebrate Year of the Pig

The seniors at Jennings Hall look forward to their annual lunch that celebrates the Lunar New Year.  In addition to the delicious Chinese meal, they receive red envelopes and a performance from Hua Xia Arts Association which included group and solo dances and song duets and solos.

The year of the Earth Pig lasts from February 5, 2019 until January 24, 2020.  The earth element is generally considered to be nurturing. This joins with the boar/pig aspect, whic has an association with water. While earth and water mixing together can be interpreted as a conflict, earth can soften this relationship and bring in harmony. Even so, this is still an unstable combination. It is good advice to tread lightly during the year as this could bode earthquakes, floods, mudslides either physical or symbolic.

Here’s some further guidance from Feng Shui master Thierry Chow, “The two best stars of the year will be in the middle and in the northwest corner of the sky.  Try to hang around in the middle and northwest corners of your house when you’re at home. [Or when traveling choose] the northwest and places in the middle of a country, or destinations with names that refer to the middle. It’s an Earth year so go hiking or mountaineering when traveling and do fewer water activities.”
