This year’s Giglio Feast, more properly known as the Our Lady of Mount Carmel (OLMC) Feast, is aiming to return to Havemeyer Street from July 7th–July 18th.  A schedule of events was posted on OLMC’s Instagram and listed the following: Opening Night Mass, July 7 at 7 p.m.; Children’s Giglio, July 8 at 6:30 p.m. (rain date July 9); Giglio Sunday, July 11, 11:30 a.m. mass, 1:30 p.m. first lift; Night Lift, July 14 at 7:30 p.m. (rain date July 15); Our Lady of Mount Carmel Mass, July 16 at 3 p.m.; and Old Timers’ Day, July 18, 3 p.m. first lift.

On June 23, OLMC Feast released videos of the Boat coming out of storage for the first time in two years.  The band was there to play and Boat lifters carried it and Carmine Caggiano, who was appointed to Turk for this year’s feast.

There are still some unknowns about this year’s feast, but things look promising.  Then are also the knowns of this 12-day celebration that has its start some say in 1887 and some say in 1903.  To learn more go to: https://northbrooklynnews.com/2016/07/01/preparing-for-giglio-our-christmas-in-july/  or www.olmcfeast.com .

An important known is this feast is a fundraiser.  As there was no Giglio last year, this year’s fundraising will try to make up for that.  You can help support by donating here: http://givecentral.org/olmc-feast  or texting FEAST to 272-808-0223.  If you are interested in being a lifter email: OLMCFeastLifters@gmail.com
