Seniors Come Together to Celebrate Lives Lost

Jennings Hall held a memorial event for their resident seniors.

Seniors of Jennings Hall, Metropolitan Houses, Monsignor Vetro Houses, CABS Senior Housing, and Ellery Court are coming together with their neighbors to celebrate the lives of loved ones lost and also look to a future of returning normalcy.  Each of these five buildings recently have held or will hold a memorial for those friends and family of residents that were lost during the pandemic.  As seniors are one of the most vulnerable groups when it comes to COVID-19 there was little opportunity in the past sixteen months to gather together.

A resident of Jennings Hall shares a fond memory of one he lost from COVID-19 at the memorial event Jennings Hall hosted.

St. Nicks Alliance staff worked with senior housing leadership to arrange gatherings at each of the five senior buildings as a way to reengage resident seniors.  These memorials allow seniors to share fond memories of those they lost.  It is seen as a first step in bringing back group events and activities to the seniors who during the pandemic lost opportunities for necessary social interactions.  It’s an exercise in healing the past and building hope for the future.

The health of the seniors remains a priority.  Any future group outing or activity will have safety protocols implemented.
