After some percussion performers set the beat, Marco Carrión (executive director of El Puente) officially opened the Three Kings show titled “We Dream a World Together” at El Puente’s flagship location (211 South 4th Street). He said, “For 37 years the magic and movement of our Three Kings celebration has been our gift, our love letter to this community, to our families, and to our people.”  He then handed the microphone to Dr. Frances Lucerna (El Puente co-founder and president).

Dr. Frances Lucerna (El Puente co-founder and president) prepares the audience to be inspired by the new generation of leaders about to take the stage and share their dreams.

Lucerna acknowledge how special it was to perform the show in the space where El Puente started 41 years ago.  “To be able to come back here and celebrate, and really give a space and place to a new generation of young people, our new leaders.  To be able to really speak their heart, speak their dreams, speak their lived reality but courageously and boldly speak their commitment to continue El Puente’s people’s movement for self-determination and liberation as we stand in solidarity for the liberation of all oppressed peoples and communities in the world.”  She also gave a shout out to El Puente in Puerto Rico as they could watch via the livestream.

The young performers and youth activists put on a show filled with acting, dancing, and art in motion and inspiration. The theme showcased their dreams for the world, their relationship with justice, and their hopes for a safer world.
