Participatory Budgeting (PB) is a democratic process in which community members directly decide how to spend part of a public budget. NYC Council Districts 33 and 34 will be out in the community hosting voting sites from April 6– April 14 so the public can cast their vote in person on local projects they’d like to fund, such as computer labs in schools or community gardens, etc.  You can also vote online here: https://vote.pbnyc.org/pbnyc-vote-2024-before-start  Voting is open to those ages 11 (at least a 6th  grader) and older who live in a participating council district regardless of immigration status.

District 33

“Our office chose to focus on school equity — we identified six high needs schools in District 33 and we look forward to neighbors coming together to vote for projects to support them,” NYC Council Member Lincoln Restler stated in his March 26 newsletter.  He is also looking for volunteers for some of the voting sites.  To sign up go here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0B48AAAA22A6FAC07-48699029-participatory#/
