Speak Up on NatGrid’s Final Gas System Plan

National Grid submitted its Final Gas System Plan to the NYS Department of Public Service (DPS) in March.  DPS is seeking public comment regarding this plan.  The plan is 244 pages long it is recommended to look at the table of contents to find the area(s) of this plan that is (are) of concern. For instance content concerning the Greenpoint LNG Plant begins on page 117.  

NYS Public Service Commission (Commission) will hold virtual public statement hearings on April 10, April 16, and April 17, to seek the community’s input and comments.  There will be two hearings on each day: one at 1 p.m. and the other at 6 p.m.  All meetings can be accessed via: meetny-gov.webex.com  to get the meeting number and password in addition to phone access visit: https://dps.ny.gov/event/national-grid-virtual-public-statement-410-hearings-regarding-national-grids-long-term-gas

Those wishing to provide a public statement on the record during the virtual public statement hearings must register to do so by the day before the hearing.  

Those intending to make a public statement by phone must call: 1-800-342-3330 to register by the day before the meeting.  They would access the meeting by calling: 1-929-251-9612 and enter the appropriate access code and phone-in password provided on the webpage: https://dps.ny.gov/event/national-grid-virtual-public-statement-410-hearings-regarding-national-grids-long-term-gas

For those who cannot attend or prefer not to comment at the public statement hearings, there are several other ways to provide your comments. All comments should refer to “Case 24-G-0248” and should be submitted no later than April 18, 2025.

Internet or Mail: Go to www.dps.ny.gov , click on “File Search” (located under the heading “Commission Files”), enter “24-G-0248” in the “Search by Case Number” box, and then click on “Post Comments” at the top of the page.

Alternatively, comments may be mailed to the Hon. Michelle L. Phillips, secretary, Public Service Commission, Three Empire State Plaza, Albany, New York, 12223-1350, however, electronic filing is strongly encouraged.

All comments submitted to the secretary will be posted on the department’s website and may be accessed by searching the case number, as described above, and clicking on the “Public Comments” tab. Please be advised that untimely comments may not be considered by the Commission.

Toll-Free Opinion Line: Individuals may submit comments by calling the Commission’s Opinion Line at 1-800-335-2120. This number is set up to receive in-State calls 24-hours a day. These comments are not transcribed verbatim, but a summary is provided to the Commission.
