Thirteen was a lucky number for this June’s Dime McCarren 5K, a family fun community run that raises funds for St. Nicks Alliance’s youth and education services. In addition to being the thirteenth year for this 5K, the run happened on June 13. It was a beautiful day, if a smidge warm, for the nearly 800 runners participating.

This year also celebrates ten years that Dime Bank became the lead sponsor of this run. In 2016, Dime leadership stated that their long-standing commitment to Williamsburg and North Brooklyn and the opportunity to help positively transform lives by supporting St. Nicks Alliance’s community services lead to their decision to support this 5K.
In addition to Dime Bank, St. Nicks Alliance also partners with North Brooklyn Runners, Brooklyn Running Company, and elite feats.

The community, as always, played a big part in this year’s success. Local businesses, like Capri Jet Realty, formed running teams.
“Capri Jet Realty is proud to support the St. Nicks Alliance 5K Dime McCarren Run and invest in the health, spirit, and strength of our community,” said Robert Napolitano, owner of Capri Jet.
Adrian Cabnal was the fastest overall with a time of 15:51.98. Marie Barnett was the fastest woman of this 5K. She crossed the finish line in 17:14.33.

The fastest youngest finishers were: George Bruton (7) and Annabel Kataura (8) who finished the 5K in 29:47.72 and 33:04.09 respectively.

The fastest oldest finishers were: Barbara Luciano (75) in 26:55.42 and Solomon Winter (76) in 27:04.87, crossing the finish line less than five seconds apart.
There are rumors the Dime McCarren 5K may return to a date in May next year. Start training now.
