It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Estella Maria Jimenez on Monday, June 22. A beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, mentor, and community leader; Estella touched countless lives through her generosity, strength, and unwavering dedication to others.
Born in the Dominican Republic, Estella later made her home in Queens, Brooklyn, and ultimately settled in Williamsburg, where she continued building the relationships and community that became the hallmark of her life. As President of the Brooklyn Dominican Day Parade, she devoted herself to celebrating Dominican culture and uplifting future generations. She took particular pride in watching the young princesses and queens of the parade grow into confident women, many of whom became like family.
Estella was the life of every gathering—strong-willed, joyful, and always ready with a warm welcome. Whether sharing mangú each morning with loved ones, dancing to her favorite music, or organizing community events; she brought people together and made everyone feel at home.
She leaves behind her two beloved daughters, and four cherished granddaughters. She is also survived by her loving sisters and brothers, her many adored nieces and nephews, and countless friends and community members who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Estella’s legacy lives on through the family she loved, the community she served, and the countless lives she inspired. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Con profundo pesar, anunciamos el fallecimiento de Estella Maria Jimenez el lunes 22 de junio. Amada madre, abuela, tía, amiga, mentora y líder comunitaria, Estella tocó innumerables vidas con su generosidad, fortaleza y entrega inquebrantable hacia los demás.
Nacida en la República Dominicana, Estella posteriormente hizo de Nueva York su hogar, residiendo en Queens y Brooklyn, y estableciéndose finalmente en Williamsburg, donde continuó construyendo las relaciones y la comunidad que fueron el sello distintivo de su vida. Como Presidenta del Desfile Dominicano de Brooklyn, dedicó su vida a la celebración de la cultura dominicana y al impulso de las nuevas generaciones. Sentía un orgullo especial al ver a las jóvenes princesas y reinas del desfile convertirse en mujeres seguras y decididas, muchas de las cuales llegaron a ser como parte de su familia.
Estella era el alma de cada reunión: de carácter firme, alegre y siempre dispuesta a brindar una cálida bienvenida. Ya fuera compartiendo mangú cada mañana con sus seres queridos, bailando al ritmo de su música favorita o coordinando eventos comunitarios, siempre lograba unir a las personas y hacerlas sentir en casa.
Le sobreviven sus dos amadas hijas y cuatro nietas queridas. También la sobreviven sus queridos hermanos y hermanas, una extensa familia de sobrinos y sobrinas, así como innumerables amigos y miembros de la comunidad que siempre llevarán su memoria en el corazón.
El legado de Estella continúa vivo a través de la familia que amó, la comunidad que sirvió y las innumerables vidas que inspiró. Será profundamente extrañada y siempre recordada.
