Tenants Forum Enlightens Residents to their Rights

The NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development, Council Member Antonio Reynoso, and other city and non-profit agencies hosted a town hall meeting to inform and answer questions about tenants’ rights.  Some of the important topics that were covered in the presentation and the Q & A that followed were: housing code violations, housing court, rent protections for seniors and disabled persons, NYCHA, Section 8, bedbugs, and discrimination.

70 community residents attended the Tenants Forum held on December 11th at P.S. 120. Representatives from the Division of Housing and Community Renewal, the Human Rights Commission, the Office of Consumer Affairs , and of course the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development  were among the agencies that sat this night on the panel of experts who provided necessary and liberating information.
