In August, Leadership Groups made up of 3rd –5th grade from PS 18 were invited by Joanne Persad, NYC Government and Public Affairs Manager for Waste Management to visit their Greenpoint facility and habitat to learn about waste and recycling in their community and the environment.  Students painted bird houses and hung them in the habit and enjoyed the opportunity to interact with nature right here in Brooklyn. The Leadership Groups meet on a weekly basis to cultivate skills in the following areas: teamwork, communication, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and, of course, leadership!
