March 2, 2016 marked the 19^th time of the NEA’s annual reading motivation and awareness program was celebrated across the country. How the day is celebrated is unique to each participating school, but generally there is an appearance by the Cat in the Hat, due the March 2^nd date having been chosen in honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday. readers at PS 132 hailed from the NYPD, FDNY, Department of Education, St. Nicks Alliance, local representatives, local businesses, etc.

I was honored to read to an attentive and inquisitive class of fourth graders who unanimously admitted they loved to read. After reading the story, one of the several questions I was asked was, “How do you become a writer?” My answer was, “Read and read a lot!”
