On the last Sunday in August, a parade celebrating Dominican culture travelled down Graham Avenue from Metropolitan Avenue to Broadway. Los Andulleros de Santiago USA’s Diablo Cojuelos (Limping Devils) danced along the route in colorful glimmering costumes cracking their whips. Winners of the annual beauty pageant rode on floats or

gracefully strolled along the route. This yearly pageant provides young women with the opportunity to learn about their roots and develop pride in their culture, language and heritage. It is for bilingual girls and young women from ages 5 to 24 with Dominican heritage.
Local leaders Council Member Antonio Reynoso, Fidel F. Del Valle (OATH Commissioner), District Leader Tommy Torres, and others also represented.
