The 8th TASTE Williamsburg Greenpoint, an annual food fest of Brooklyn’s best, took over East River Park on a September Sunday. It once again delighted the palates of local epicures. Over forty neighborhood restaurants and bars offers bites and sips in amuse-gueule fashion. In addition there were live bands, games, and the opportunity to meet community advocates like the North Brooklyn Angels, the Billion Oyster Project, St. Nicks Alliance, and Churches United for Fair Housing.

Proceeds from the event support the renovation of the former Engine Co. 212 into a cultural center and home to neighborhood justice organizations. The Firehouse North Brooklyn Community Center was formed in 2009 and has made steady progress toward this goal.
“TASTE Williamsburg Greenpoint 2017 was a great success thanks to the many wonderful sponsors, participants and volunteers who generously donated their time and resources. 100% of [money raised] will be going to benefit the Firehouse North Brooklyn Community Center. Thanks to TASTE Williamsburg Greenpoint, the Firehouse is on track to reach its fundraising goal,” said Dana Krieger, TASTE Williamsburg Greenpoint event organizer.
The festival had approximately 2,000 attendees over the course of the afternoon and raised over $118,000.
