This summer Jessica Rose will begin her role as Executive Director of Brooklyn Legal Services Corporation A, the first woman to hold this role. Rose joined Brooklyn A’s Community & Economic Development Program in 2004 as a staff attorney and in four years became this program’s director.
Martin S. Needelman will transition from the role of Exec. Dir., one he’s held for three decades, to Chief Counsel Emeritus. He will continue to provide legal services to low-income tenant co-op housing development fund corporations and community coalitions primarily based in Williamsburg and support the firm at large. He’s been part of the Brooklyn A team for more than 45 years.
Shekar Krishnan has also been named new director of legal advocacy and strategic partnerships. As such he will assist the leadership of the organization by overseeing its legal advocacy strategies, developing programmatic priorities, and maintaining community and pro bono partnerships.
“As we celebrate Brooklyn A’s 50th year of advocating on behalf of and alongside low-income residents and community organizations in the communities we serve, this is a historic and exciting time for Brooklyn A and for Jessie,” Mr. Needelman commented. “In recent years, Brooklyn A has grown to its largest size in the organization’s history with over 60 staff currently, with offices in Williamsburg, Bushwick and Bedford Stuyvesant.”
